Survivor: The Australian Outback - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The elimination of contestant Michael Skupin during the sixth episode is noteworthy for being the first case where a Survivor contestant has had to be evacuated due to injuries.
Michael Skupin, while attempting to start a fire, breathed in smoke and momentarily fainted, falling into the fire and suffering severe burns to his hands.
Had Skupin's injury not occurred Kucha was heavily favored to win the next immunity challenge and Ogakor might have voted out their fourth castaway, however they were notified before the immunity challenge, only being told that there was an accident in the other tribe's camp and someone was evacuated.

But Skupin kept the story behind his bandaged hands from his three children and his wife, Peni, who "was sure that I won when I came home," honoring a confidentiality agreement.
Skupin's removal ensured that the Kucha and Ogakor tribes would be evenly represented, with five contestants apiece, with a scheduled merger of the teams that takes place in the next episode.
