Michael Stipe is very eccentric in this video (the heading of my review is a quote from Stipe in the video, which shows that he was "out there").
There are some things about the film that may be off-putting, like Stipe's somewhat eccentric behavior or his atrocious haircut and the editing in some parts of the film, but these things obviously have no bearing on the excellent performance contained therein and the film is really great overall.
One of best aspects of the film is probably Stipe's level of energy as he bounces and shimmies all over the stage like a 6 year old on a sugar high.
