Michael Korybut Wisniowiecki (1640-1673), King of Poland and was the son of a Polish military commander.
His reign was less than successful, and the nobility were not satisfied with the House of Vasa's dynastic policies.
Wisniowiecki's father was of great military fame, but Michael lost a war against the Turks, with Turkey occupying Podolia[?].

Michael Korybut Wisniowiecki (July 31, 1640 - November 10, 1673); Polish: Michał Korybut Wiśniowiecki, was the son of Jeremi Michał Wiśniowiecki and his wife Gryzelda Konstancja Zamoyska.
He was the first monarch of Polish origin since the last of Jagiellonian Dynasty, Sigismund II Augustus, died in 1572.
Michal was a son of a successful but controversial military commander Jeremi Michał Wiśniowiecki, known for his actions during uring the Chmielnicki Uprising led by Bohdan Chmielnicki.

Gdyby nie Jeremi Wiśniowiecki, to moim zdaniem Korybut nie miałby szans na zostanie kimkolwiek, a już na pewno królem.
Szlachta bardzo chciała, by wygrał " Piast ", a nie ktoś z zagranicy, niestety Korybut to jedno wielkie nieporozumienie i to jak skończył, myślę że jest dobrym podsumowaniem jego życia i działalności.

Actually the first documented election of a Polish king had occurred in 1386, with the selection of Wladyslaw Jagiello, grand duke of Lithuania, to be the first king of Poland's second dynasty.
