The fruits of Miconia calvescens are eaten and dispersed by non-native frugivorous birds, such as the red-vented bulbul (Pycnonotus cafer), Japanese white-eye (Zosterops japonicus) and common mynah (Acridotheres tristis).
All the interventions made on Miconia populations have to be strictly controlled to avoid new seed dispersal due to the transportation of the material used.
