		This means that footage recorded on MicroMV format cannot be edited with most computer DV editing software (though iMovie does support MPEG-4 movies).
		MicroMV has not been known to be a particularly succesful format.
		The fact that HDV is also based on MPEG-2 could possibly trigger a revival of MicroMV, but since even Sony is giving it only minimal support at this point, there is no reason to assume this is likely.

		MicroMV is a proprietary format which Sony introduced in 2002.
		The news is somewhat of a surprise, in October Sony introduced a new MicroMV model, the DCR-IP1 which was the smallest model yet, about the size of a pack of playing cards, however the expected price of $1,200 has been criticized for being to high.
		BTW, on the microMV front, I seem to recall posting here months ago that it was a format to be avoided, that it recorded inferior quality compared with miniDV, etc. I also seem to recall several posters here who strongly disagreed with my view, especially on the quality front.
