Formula One Grand Prix (known as World Circuit in the United States) is a racing simulator released in 1992 by MicroProse for the Amiga and PC created by game designer Geoff Crammond.
It is often referred to as Grand Prix, MicroProse Grand Prix, or just F1GP, although the game itself was not affiliated officially with the FIA or any Formula One drivers.
The game is a simulation of Formula One racing at the time and was noted for its 3D graphics and attention to detail, in particular the players ability to edit the teams and drivers and set up their car to their own personal specifications.

Sadly however, even with as vocal and dedicated as the hardcore simulation audience is, their numbers are small and Microprose has found it difficult to compete against more mainstream titles such as Jane's WWII Fighters and Jane's USAF.
But cater to the masses' demands Microprose would not: they would not give into the general public and like their competitors produce another jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none flight simulator.
Rather, Microprose has decided to return to their roots and re-establish one of the most storied franchises of all time.

While I have been told that MicroProse has no interest in the Board Game market, it would seem to imply that they wanted the rights to the names (of Civilization and 18xx) and/or they are looking at board games as a starting point for further computer games.

The move comes as good news to console owners hungry for more simulation titles as the acquisition enables Hasbro to bring Microprose's franchises to multiple platforms.
Microprose has traditionally been averse to releasing its games on N64 and Hasbro's recent announcement of its first N64 title, Glover, opens the way for more Nintendo 64 titles.

Last lap for Microprose UK studio // GamesIndustry.biz
The only remaining Microprose development studio in the UK, which most recently created Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix 4, is being shut down by owners Infogrames - with the doors shutting on the studio for the last time this Friday, September 20.
What this almost certainly represents is the death of the Microprose label, which was purchased by Infogrames as part of its acquisition of Hasbro properties.
Although several leading-edge PC games from the publisher appeared under the Microprose label, the newly-revived Atari label now covers that area of the market, and it seems likely that Grand Prix 4 will have been the last game ever to carry the Microprose logo.
