Micronauts - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Micronauts, under the partial guidance of Scion, a self described child of the Makers, discovered that the berserk manifestation of Enigma Force was the injured Worldmind of Homeworld.
This sentiment was also greatly felt toward the last ten issues of the earlier Micronauts series where many readers reportedly didn't care much for the heavy metaphysics themes that were injected into the story and would serve as the basis for New Voyages.
In the brief Alpha Flight cameo appearance, it is clear that the unnamed Micronaut character shown was originally intended to be Acroyear as there is noticeable evidence that the character had to be redrawn at the last minute due to licensing restrictions.

Micronauts went on strong until about 1979, when the Mego corp. was on it's last legs, until they finally went out of business in about 1980.
In that 1979-80 retail year, the Micronauts saw their first original concepts introduced, being the first characters not to be based on the original Microman line.
Who knows where the Micronauts would have gone from there following these cool new ideas...but the end was only temporary.

MICRONAUTS was a toy range launched by Mego Corporation in 1976, after they signed a deal with toy manufacturers Takara.
Based on the latter's 'Microman' toy range, the concept for Micronauts involved all their figures, vehicles and playsets being modular, and connected by a unique 5mm peg and hole system, thus, pieces could be configured and re-shaped according to the child's fevered imagination.
Although Micronauts lasted only until 1979-80, when Mego went bust, the concept was to surface again and again, most recently in early 2002 with the Palisades project, intended to recreate the original lineup with better quality.

Because they are tired of combat, the Micronauts seek to escape by exploring new worlds (and thus get into lots more fights) until they realize Karza has returned and fight him both in the Microverse and Earth, culminating in his defeat again (issue 28).
In fighting this pain, the Micronauts eventually put a stop to it on the planet Homeworld, but Rann is corrupted by the spirit of Karza that lingers in his old armor.
So...if I had to sum up these issues....I'd say that the Micronauts is the story of a man who returns to his home after a long journey, and then spends the rest of his life fighting against his old teacher with a new bunch of allies.

Second, the Micronauts will be visiting Earth pretty regularly; they won't be there in every issue, but we are going to establish that traveling to and from Earth becomes a necessity -- since Earth seems to be where Baron Karza is hiding, biding his time and gathering strength before reclaiming his throne.

There are times when I miss the good old days when writers seemed to be in a mad dash to gather together their teams so they could get on to the more entertaining material that could be found after the team was assembled.
What's more the slower pace hasn't resulted in better characterization, as when the Micronauts made their daring escape from Baron Karza in the opening issue of the original series, their personalities were already better defined than the collection of characters we've seen in the opening three issues of this new series.
The characters who will eventually form the Micronauts are poorly defined, and the book seems reluctant to spend too long exploring any one character, as after a little taste of characterization the book quickly jumps to another character.
