Topic: Middle C

In the News (Wed 11 Nov 09)

Middle C - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It also tends to be to the middle of a keyboard, and it is near the top of the male vocal range and the bottom of the female vocal range.
For example, that note (C4) would be "low C" to the player of a Western concert flute (as it is in the lowest register of that instrument), while C5 would be middle C. Nevertheless, the expression "middle C" is generally not unclear across instruments and clefs.
When calculated in equal temperament with a reference of A above middle C as 440 Hz, the frequency of the middle C note is approximately 261.6 hertz.

Guitar Theory Resources Where Is Middle C
Middle " C " on the piano is the note " in the middle " between the Treble and Bass Clefs.
The middle line was the C ledger line, hence the term middle C. The Great Staff was too large and confusing for reading music, and was divided into two sections, the top 5 ledger lines became the Treble Cleff and the bottom 5 lines became the Bass Cleff.
So to finally get to the point about where middle C is on the guitar, the actual pitch of middle C is the C note played on the second string, first fret which is written in the third space up on the Treble Cleff.

Nat' Academies Press, Development During Middle Childhood: The Years From Six to Twelve (1984)
Middle childhood, as the time when individuals become most intensely aware of the evaluation of others, can thus been seen as a critical period for the development of the social self.
During middle childhood, they claim, the physical self includes activity~related physical attributes; the active self includes capabilities relative to others; the social self includes activities that are considered in light of others' reactions (approval or disapproval); and the psychological self includes knowledge, learned skills, motivation, or activity-related emotional states.
In middle childhood the development of self- concept requires that children develop a relatively stable and comprehensive understanding of themselves, that they refine their understanding of how the social world works, that they develop standards and expectations for their own behavior, and that they develop strategies for controlling or man- aging their behavior.

The "middle" in Middle C comes from it being the C note in the centre of the piano keyboard.
Each of the staff lines, and the spaces in between them, represent a note relative to Middle C. Another convention, often used with computer music, is to follow the note with an octave number.
For example, Middle C might be labelled C4, while C5 would be the C note one octave up from it.

If the fundamental is c at 512 Hertz, then the second harmonic is twice the frequency, c an octave higher at 1024 Hertz, the third harmonic is g at 1536 Hertz, and the fourth harmonic is c at 2048 Hertz.
This is because the center part can't be at rest (we plucked it!) so the string can't vibrate in two halves.
