The Footscray Football Club was established in 1883 and named the "Imperials" in tribute to the British Royal Family.
For a number of reasons, Footscray was not invited to join the VFL breakaway in 1896.
Of course immigration to Melbourne is not new however for some reason, Footscray was unable to tap the migrant's psyche as effectively as other VFL clubs.

Footscray, as a large part of that electorate, has given more than its full proportionate part, according to the returns submitted to the Council from time to time by the local Recruiting Committee.
The first series of certificates for the next of kin of those Footscray men who have fallen and for returned men have been issued to all those who applied, and a start is now being made to issue the certificates for all those still on active service.
I am very pleased to be able to report that every application that has been made in Footscray could be well recommended by me, and this is creditable testimony to the good purpose of all who have had occasion to obtain official sanction to their entertainment or effort.

As far as the game goes I was pleased with the way we played, a bit disappointed that the game wasn’t put away more convincingly in the last quarter when we had a massive height advantage up forward and absolutely bewildered by some of the worst umpiring in the history of the game.
Waverley was a dive in the middle of nowhere but at least it had character.
The future of Footscray, North, Melbourne and god-forbid even St. Kilda is at stake as long as they are continually forced (and in some cases even choose for some reason) to play at Docklands.

Then she met Edward Poon, married and some years later found herself in Footscray, in Melbourne’s western suburbs.
It must have been quite an experience for her for although there were many Chinese people living in and around ‘Chinatown’ in Melbourne, there were not so many living out in Footscray.

Not only was the 4.40pm late (track upgrade/signal upgrade of $millions and we still go slow?), but the train stops about 150m out from Geelong station for several minutes whilst apparently we wait for a Melb bound train to depart.
Even though it is $79 or so down the tube for not using the trains (as I am in the middle of a 10 week ticket), I'm not that worried.
Iif I were a 1st fare-paying customer getting on at a later station (say Nth Melb or Footscray), I'd be mildly annoyed to find no seats in 1st Class.

A very quick stop at West Footscray station at approximately 4:45pm on August 14 2002, revealed three express passenger services through the station.
The T and X class are uncoupled from the train and run forward where T396 is detached from the X class and then heads Up from tottenham yard tower area to West Footscray junction.
Also included are clear pictures of the signal box, the station area of West Footscray and the goods and passenger lines.
