Ann, daughter and heiress to the last of the de Hawkeslow family, brought it to the Middlemore family in the early 15th centurty through her marriage with Nicholas, a younger son of Thomas Middlemore and Isabel Edgbaston.
The Middlemore's steadfast position cost them considerably and the property eventually was sold to William Middlemore of the Birmingham line of the Middlemore family in 1869.

In 1552 John Middlemore sold land in Rednal Yield, Hawkesley farm was in Rednal Yield, whereas Hawkesley Hall was in Headly Yield.

Colonisation and infection due to ESBLPE are increasing at Middlemore Hospital and in the Auckland community.
ESBLPE were isolated from all departments at Middlemore Hospital; particular departments did not appear to be over-represented in the number of patients from whom an ESBLPE was isolated, however one-quarter of patients had been admitted to ICU before the isolation of an ESBLPE.
The use of third-generation cephalosporins and ciprofloxacin is not restricted at Middlemore Hospital, and inappropriate use of these antibiotics may be contributing to the recent increase in ESBLPE isolations.

Richard Middlemore was apprenticed to a surgeon in Lichfield at the age of sixteen, and in 1823 became a student at St Bartholomew's Hospital in London.
The first Middlemore grant was made in 1882 and is now offered as a research grant and was last awarded in 2002.
Mr Middlemore engaged in general practice with an especial leaning towards surgery and ophthalmology, stimulated probably in these respects by the example of Mr Hodgson.

 Scoop: New neonatal intensive care unit at Middlemore
This new unit will give these babies the treatment they need in an improved environment, and also provide facilities for their worried parents and families who, understandably, want to be as close to their baby as possible.
Middlemore Hospital offers six level three cots for the most seriously ill babies, but this number is expected to almost double in the new unit.
Ms King said the projected increase in Middlemore neonatal cot numbers was not only positive for the people in the Counties Manukau District Health Board area, but also good news for other neonatal units around the country.

Not all children admitted into the Home after this book was started in 1877 were recorded as seeking admission (quite possibly because the applicant on behalf of the child was well known to Dr Middlemore, or the child was ordered admitted to the Home by a magistrate or other official).
Age: The age and age date for each child are taken from Middlemore documents.
Names: The names in the Index are based on the Middlemore History Books and Middlemore Settlement and Reports Books, where names are inscribed on the top of each page in copperplate writing, and the Application Books which are not always easy to read and sometimes information is overwritten.

 Middlemore reunion held 7/8 Sept2001
After a visit and talking about the Home and when they came out to Canada, the suggestion was made to try and get other Middlemore Home boys and girls together for a reunion and reminisce about their time at Middlemore Home.
The notices of the Middlemore Home Reunion placed in the newspapers; attracted more and more attention and the descendants wanted to find out as much as possible about their family members who came to Canada as Home Children.
For the second year in a row, the event was held at St. Mary's Church on McEvoy Street and was open too all survivors and descendants of children from the Middlemore Home for Orphans in the UK.

Work on the construction of new roads and sewers to serve the first phase of the proposed Middlemore housing development have commenced and is due to be completed early in 2003.
The complete Middlemore site covers 30 hectares (75 acres) and will host a village-style development of over 700 new homes when completed.
Apart from new homes, an area has been set aside for a school, and the existing Middlemore Farm and barns, which are listed buildings, will also be retained.

By February 1893 an approach had been made to the Middlemore Home to take in 13-year-old James Austin, as he didn't like to be a burden to his mother and wanted to go to Canada.
James, who was born on Nov. 28, 1879, sailed to Canada on May 23, 1893, probably on the SS Siberian which arrived in Halifax on the third of June.
A report by the Middlemore Home states the mother and children were literally starving.

As part of the re-organisation of medical services and the opening of a new building, a 12-bed ASU was established within the Division of Medicine at Middlemore Hospital, Counties Manukau District Health Board (CMDHB), in September 2001.
This geographically defined unit, located within a 23-bed general medical ward, includes a dedicated MDT of medical, nursing, and allied health staff, and has a policy of accepting direct admissions (or referrals) from the Emergency Department and medical or surgical teams during standard working hours.
In general, the data show that the introduction of the ASU has been associated with improvement in the quality of care outcomes for patients with acute stroke admitted to Middlemore Hospital.

Dr John T. Middlemore (1844 -1924) started the Children's Emigration Home in 1872 when he was 28, and personally took the first 29 children to Canada in May 1873.
The Guthrie Home was opened 1874 in London, Ontario, where the Children were taken on arrival from Birmingham via Liverpool and Quebec City.

 Facelift for Middlemore
Stage one of Project Excel, the Counties Manukau District Health Board’s plan to significantly upgrade or renew amenities at Middlemore, is ready to start and final design and construction approval from the Health Ministry is expected very soon.
Antenatal and postnatal care departments are moving to the hospital’s fourth floor, “resulting in improved access between wards and units for medical staff and a more efficient flow of women between operating theatres and the wards”, she says.
A ministry funding decision on stage two is “imminent” as well, says Counties Manukau Health, with plans to add more beds for acute mental health sufferers and improved areas for day-of-admission patients.
