While suggesting that the Asians are dying younger, New Zealand experts have called for more research into Asian health issues and a better cooperation with Asian countries to address the situation before it turns into a full blown public health crisis.
Yogini Ratnasabapathy, senior lecturer in geriatrics at the university, in her separate study to measure the rates of stroke in Asians admitted at the Middlemore Hospital, says the mean age of Asians admitted there with stroke during 2002-03 was lower than the overall mean among a total ‘stroke’ sample of 502.
