Middlesex CCC is delighted to annouce their side for the opening match of the season against Oxford UCCE at The Parks beginning on Saturday 14th April.
Middlesex gained revenge for the defeat suffered the previous day when they defeated Essex at Chelmsford by 35 runs in the second of the 50 overs-a-side pre-season friendly matches.
Middlesex finished on 324-4 off their 50 overs in todays pre season match against Essex with 107 from Billy Godleman, Ed Smith 84 and Owais Shah 70.

Previously the Charlesworth club had rented a meadow next to Gamesley railway sidings (opposite St. Margarets School), and for 30 years.Thomas Davenport, the licensee of the Grey Mare Inn was groundsmen.
There was however growing disquiet in the club about the state of the pitch which was brought to a head in 1907 when the farmer turned out his beasts into the field on a Saturday morning after the wicket had been prepared.
Since early days the clubs has developed its facilities based on standards demanded for a modern society, and in particular the pavilion facilities, which were extended in 1989.

Middlesex County Cricket Club is one of the 18 major county clubs which make up the English domestic cricket structure, representing the historic county of Middlesex.
The creation of the club was largely through the efforts of the Walker family of Southgate, which included several notable players including the famous V E Walker, who in 1859 became the first player to take 10 wickets in an innings and score a century in the same match.
Skipper Mike Brearley proved as astute for his county as he did for his country in the late 1970s and early 1980s and a team boasting the 'spin twins' of John Emburey and Phil Edmonds, the batting firepower of Mike Gatting and overseas fast bowlers of the quality of Wayne Daniel was hard to beat.

Formed in 1940, Osterley Cricket Club provided facilities and equipment to enable the local community to play cricket and socialize in Tentlow Lane Heston for many years before moving to Richings Park Iver because of the leasing problems with their beloved home ground.
In 2006 the club again dominated the championship, winning the 1st Division title for the second year in a row, it is a tremendous achievement for the team, and the just reward for the hard work the Chairman and his Captain have put in togather with the amazingly talented players for the last few years.

However, now the games are played in coloured clothing and using white balls (as opposed to whites and a red ball) and next year it is being changed from a knockout competition into group stages, and the minor counties aren't going to be in the competition...
The players that are lost from the counties (including plenty of overseas players) would then filter down to club level, which itself would become more competitive.
