		Midian was release on halloween and more info will be up soon
		Dani and Robin have been in the band since its formation, while Gian joined for the 'Dusk And Her Embrace' album (he departed briefly last year, but has since returned full-time).
		In the meantime Cradle Of Filth would like to apologise to members of their Fan Club for the delay in correspondence from the organisation.

	Midian Information
		The term "Midian", which may be derived from the Semitic root word for judgement, denotes also the nation of the Midianites; the plural form occurring only in Genesis 37:28,36 and Numbers 25:17, 31:2.
		Midian is likewise described as in the vicinity of Moab: the Midianites were beaten by the Edomite king Hadad ben Bedad "in the field of Moab",
		It is possible that Sihon had previously conquered Midian and made it a vassal, and that after his death the Midianites recovered their independence.

		Their previous full-length album, Cruelty and the Beast, was a groundbreaking concept album, moving the band further away from their strict fl metal roots and into a more theatrical, orchestrated style.

		i found this album quite insulting because 0f the lyrical content singing about satan isnt clever nor is it big i have been a jehovas witness for many years and have spent my life devotid to helping people worse of then myself.
		Far from being pure fl metal, Midian fuses melodic death with CoF's usual mega-dose of fiendish gothicism, establishing a sound that is as infectious as it is memorable.
		Well it is. Though Midian is not as extreme as Cradle of Filth's previous albums, it is more dark and brooding and gothic as the Principles of Evil Made Flesh or Cruelty and the Beast ever were.

		It is one of the most flowing songs and has some of the better melodies, but for some reason it just doesn't do it for me. It's quite cool to hear Dani go from insanely low pitch talking to his high-pitched shrieking.
		This album grew on me, i wanted to get into metal and had heard this music on Triple J, this was ages ago when i considered Korn and Limp Bizkit almost too heavy to listen to.
		This album, speciifically made me research the "Cthulhu", and let me tell you this, he is awesome.

	Dark and Depraved: Cradle of Filth
		The band are due to go into the studio to record their first album for a major label at the beginning of May with a brief respite in recording to allow the band to perform at next year Dynamo festival in Holland.
		The album itself looks like being another conceptual work (much in the vein that "Cruelty And The Beast" was) with a tentative working title of "Damnation And A Day", with two songs already written and two more to be completed before the Xmas sojourn.
		Cradles Fifth Album Recording is underway at Parkgate Studios, East Sussex, on CRADLE OF FILTH's eagerly awaited fifth full-length album, 'Midian', which is due for release on Halloween 2000.

		Midian was formed in 1992 by Michael Eijk (guitar) and Wilmar Taal (vocals/guitar) together with Erwin Koolen (bass) and Claudius de Wilde (drums).
		Despite Midian climbing the ladder of success, Claudius and Michael decided to stop early in 1994.
		The Midian line up is complete again and working intensively on the first full length album, which is scheduled for recording in 2008.

		The album is scheduled to be released in February 2001 through Z Records and it is title "Utopia".
		The title of the album, which was recorded in Florida, is "Gateways To Annihilation" and according to Steve Tucker it has a very paganistic point of view.
		The band is already recording their debut album while negotiating a deal to release it.

		“Midian” had these parts where the keys were turned up, but the guitar sound will be stronger on the follow-up.
		What I noticed with “Midian”, was that compared to the previous album, you gave more responsibility to the vocals, choirs and keyboards for carrying the melodies.
		I like what he has done of this new album, he has mixed a lot of different styles together which makes it work a lot better on the whole.

	In Music We Trust - Cradle of Filth: Damnation & A Day
		In an "Order of the Dragon" newsletter (the "official" Cradle of Filth fan newsletter) earlier this year when this album was being recorded, Dani Filth mentioned he wanted this venture to have a concept with an ongoing story line linking the songs together, like "Cruelty and the Beast" or "Midian".
		Take the guitar riff from "Her Ghost in the Fog" from the "Midian" album, for instance - it sounds like a royal procession for Hellish or maybe Dark Elf hosts; the elegance of the instrumentation without losing heaviness is what makes this song stand out.
		This is one of the rare songs on the album where the guitar is featured over the rest of the music.

		Some of my favorite tracks on this album include "At The Gates Of Midian/Cthulhu Dawn", a great opening piece, "Lord Abortion", a haunting song with many morbid twists and turns(the lyrics here are not for the faint of heart), and perhaps the best one of them all "Her Ghost In The Fog".
		Don't get me wrong, all the other songs on this album are very well devised, but the instrumentation and the progressive leaves one wanting more.
		This album is a must have for those who enjoy poetic, dark, melodic, heavy metal.

		Preposterous during the opening organ of "At The Gates Of Midian," true, as well as during the onslaught of "The Cthulu Dawn" with constant double bass locomotive chugging and the raspy vocals.
		Tracks like "Her Ghost In The Fog" show the band's greatest strength, but there are too many other tracks, like "Tearing The Veil From Grace" "Amor E Morte" and "Lord Abortion" that bring this CD down.

		But the overall effect is that Midian is determined to assault your senses with the heaviest dark-metal music ever concocted.
		Individual parts of Midian are quite clever - as in the guitar solo in "Death Magick for Adepts," or the orchestral/piano introduction to "Lord Abortion." A striking dual-guitar attack opens "Amor E. Morte," but the intense percussion and scathing vocals soon had me reaching for the "skip" button.
		But the sheer heaviness of the album (and particularly the singing) is either tiring or invigorating, depending on the way you look at life.

		This prompted Neat Records to sign the band which led to the release of the first album 'To Mend an Oaken Heart' in '97.
		The second album 'Dusk and her Embrace' was released in '96 and followed by the equally impressive 'Cruelty and the Beast' in '98.
		The release of the 'From the Cradle to Enslave' E.P in '99 and monstrous 'Midian' album of 2000 has seen the band rise from blasphemous Black Metal upstarts to undisputed Metal icons of late.

		Allender never admitted to as much but I have my suspicions and being that we are in such close proximity to the infernal Halloween festivities my soul knows that somewhere in New York City there are the scattered remains of a bread roll's innards spread across the windshield of some unfortunate motorist.
		I recorded the first album, "PRINCIPLE" and then when I was in the band I wrote "DUSK AND HER EMBRACE" and there are a couple of songs on "VAMPIRE" that I wrote as well but this is the first recording with me being back in the band.
		I think that the next album might be, and I am not going to shoot myself in the foot here, I think that we will go for the same production because we are planning on writing even heavier stuff but without sounding too gauge, if you know what I mean.

		Indeed, the beginning of the album is good, but the rest of it isn't as good.
		Midian is a very concise and well done work though if one´s into the band, a lot better than Cruelty and the Beast before it.

	Midian - Cradle of Filth - Song Listings
		As satanic as anything need be, Cradle of Filth are a fl metal ensemble from Suffolk, England, who've managed to keep it extreme, while being wildly popular internationally.
		(Most of the finest metal does have some element of melody.) The album begins with a chorus of what sounds like some evil monks chanting and is at its very best when the ominous, classical-style keyboards kick in.

		his album was advertised down here in Poland as a great discovery of a polish metal scene but as for me it is a kind of cheap gothic rock.
		The song don't varry very much and so the whole album is borring.
