Mikoyan   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-22)
It was formerly a Soviet design bureau, and was founded by Artem Mikoyan and Mikhail Gurevich as "Mikoyan-Gurevich" and its bureau prefix is "MiG." Some sources also point out that MIG stands for Military Industrial Group, but this is most probably an english backronym since the russian word for "Military" does not start with "M".
MiGs follow the convention of using odd numbers for fighter aircraft.
MiGs were the best-known Soviet fighters during the Cold War, and as a result there are a number of fictional MiGs in Western popular culture.

Greengard said the Fritz program, a version of which is available for PCs, is the standard in computer chess and used by the top chess players worldwide.
Despite the continuing software and hardware improvements made to chess-playing machines, Greengard cites evidence that human players are beginning to adapt and develop better strategies for playing against computers.

Mig Greengard was present during McClain's interview, and incorporated McClain's material as well as material from his own interview with Kasparov.
Also, much of McClain's interview focused on politics, but Greengard focused more on the evolution of today's top chess players, and other chess focused questions that the New York Times didn't seem to be interested in.

 Perspective, Harvard-Radcliffe's Liberal Monthly
According to Mig Greengard (a very respected chess journalist for Chessbase.com), the organizers “have promoted the Lolita aspect of the match more than the games.” Chess journalists chronicled Paehtz's journey to the hairdresser's and talked more about her new leather hat than how she played the game.
However, Greengard makes an excellent point when he says that men “have gotten use to seeing Judit Polgar in the elite ranks.” It is clear now that the old contempt for women as inherently inferior at chess is no longer tenable.
As Mig Greengard succinctly puts it: “Not that you'll ever stop men from talking about pretty women, but if that's all you hear it can't bode well.”
