  Origins of monotheism
Measuring an impressive 29 by 22 meters, the Migdol Temple is the largest Bronze and Iron Age Temple known to man, an enormous structure justified in its size and emotional impact to the worship of a single God, and which may at one point have functioned as a four-storey temple to the Canaanite god El.
A stone spectator to a period of intense religious and political upheaval, every single one of the periods bruised, scarred, and left its mark on the temple, transforming the unassuming circular stones into a time capsule that is transforming the understanding of religious history.
The Migdol Temple was in use during the arrival of the Israelites and the establishment of the kingdoms of Israel and Judah an event that marked the foundation of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

Pi-hahiroth - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Other place names associated with Pi-hahiroth include Baal-zephon, a mountain range which meets the sea to the immediate south, and Migdol, a substantial land mass which separates the two river beds west of the beach.
There was nevertheless a good consensus that Pi-hahiroth was close to Egypt for Pharoah to react to the children of Israel being caught between the sea and Baal-zephon.
The Book of Exodus records that the children of Israel were instructed to encamp at the face of Baal-zephon, between the migdol and the sea, purposefully to be seen by Pharoah, and to appear vulnerable and trapped.

migdol - International Standard Bible Encyclopedia
In Jeremiah 44:1; 46:14, a Migdol is noticed with Memphis, and with Tahpanhes Septuagint "Taphnas"), this latter being supposed to be the Daphnai of Greek writers, now Tell Defeneh, West of Qantarah.
The same place is probably intended in Ezekiel 29:10; 30:6 (compare 30:15-18), the borders of Egypt being defined as reaching "from Migdol to Syene" (see the Revised Version margin), as understood by the Septuagint translators.
This Migdol was thus apparently a "watchtower" on the main road along the coast from Palestine, which is called (Exodus 13:17) "the way of the land of the Philistines," entering Egypt near Daphnai.

Our working hypothesis was that Tell el-Borg which bears the name, "Migdol" (a Semitic word meaning tower or fortress) might be this fort.
