At the outset of the rebellion, the Jewish community of Bucharest was massacred.
With the Habsburg mercenary forces that held Transylvania against the Turks, discredited in the country they held because of atrocities committed and because of their support for the (hated) Counterreformation, in 1599 Mihai invaded Transylvania and established his control.
The ousted princely families recruited fresh troops, and in 1601 campaigned again; Voyevode Mihai was killed on August 9th 1601.

Other important moments in the history of the town are the years 1571 (the reign of Stefan Bathory), 1600 (the reign of Mihai Viteazu) and after Transilvania joined the Habsburgic Empire- when the town was marked by an economic decadence.
After Mihai Viteazu's victory in Guraslau, the town regained the real autonomy that offered its citizens administrative, fiscal and military laws.
A chronicle from the XVII-th century writes down for the first time the trades of the Zalau inhabitants: strap makers, potters, wheelwrights, shoemakers, tailors, flsmiths, carpenters, hat makers and not at least, armourers.

Under permanent threat of invasion, the principalities of this region experienced periods when their unification was the only the means for them to resist aggression.
Thus, in light of historical circumstances, the first unification of three principalities of the region, namely Transylvania, Moldova and Muntenia, took place during the rule of Mihai Viteazul (1593 to 1601).
In 1600, Mihai Viteazu combined the countries of Muntenia (Valachia), Transylvania and Moldova to form a united R Romania.

The documents found in the Military Archive brought to light the role and the place of the General Constantin Prezan in the act of making the Romanian National State.
Durind the campaign of the year 1916 he was rewarded for deeds of merit, couragge and devotion with the „Mihai Viteazu Order”, Third Class.
In the summer of 1917, when he commanded the General Army Quarters, Constantin Prezan was honoured with „Mihai Viteazu Order”, Second Class.

Well, Mihai Viteazu is the first romanian ruler to unite all romanians under a single flag, in 1600.
Obviously, that has something to do with Oradea as well.
I'd just like to mention that romanians lived on this land way before hungarians took over the west part of the country.
