Michael "Mike" Danton (born Michael Jefferson on October 21, 1980 in Brampton, Ontario, Canada) was a professional ice hockey player.
On July 16, 2004, Danton pleaded guilty to attempting to hire a hitman, who was actually an FBI agent, to murder David Frost, his agent.
Danton was sentenced by U.S. District Judge William Stiehl to 7½ years in a U.S. federal prison without a chance of parole, but is currently seeking transfer to a prison in Canada where he could be paroled.

The complaint alleges that Danton actually was trying to kill a male acquaintance after an argument Tuesday in which the two fought over Danton's "promiscuity and use of alcohol." The complaint said Danton feared the acquaintance, who is not named, would talk to St. Louis Blues management and ruin Danton's career.
Danton, formerly known as Mike Jefferson, was suspended twice by the New Jersey Devils, who eventually traded him to St. Louis in June.
