Mike McCarthy (born November 10, 1963) is an American football coach who was hired as the head coach of the NFL's Green Bay Packers on January 12, 2006.
McCarthy was a tight end at Baker University from 1985-86, and went on to coach at Fort Hays State in 1987 and 1988 and Pittsburgh from 1989 to 1992 before moving into the NFL ranks.
McCarthy is known to run a version of the West Coast offense that uses a zone-blocking scheme similar to what the Denver Broncos deployed late in former quarterback John Elway’s career.

McCarthy's fully guaranteed contract is for slightly less per year than Brad Childress' new five-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings that's reportedly worth about $11 million and the five-year deal reportedly worth about $10.5 million that Romeo Crennel signed with the Cleveland Browns last January.
McCarthy's previous head-coaching interview was in January 2001 in Cleveland after the firing of Chris Palmer and before the hiring of Butch Davis.
