 Mike McCurry
McCurry was a familiar face on television during his 3 1/2 years as Clinton's spokesman, standing behind the White House podium day after day and sparring with reporters on topics ranging from the Whitewater investigation and the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal to weighty foreign and domestic policy matters.
McCurry said he has been back to the White House just twice, most recently in February when the briefing room was named in honor of Jim Brady, the former press secretary who was wounded in 1981 during the assassination attempt on President Reagan.
McCurry said the scandal, which involved Clinton's effort to conceal his illicit sexual affair with the one-time White House intern and led to the president's impeachment, was a "surrealistic experience," and certainly something he never imagined happening.

MCCURRY: I don't know for a fact that she has, but she was there this morning at the breakfast and I think had the opportunity to talk to the President.
MCCURRY: As a political matter, the President wants this expeditiously resolved for all the reasons that a politician would want this matter resolved, particularly because, as you now see, we believe we have a very strong case to say that there should be no consideration of impeachment because nothing arises that warrants impeachment.

Mike McCurry - How to be a pro.  By David Plotz
McCurry subsequently served as spokesman for the 1984 John Glenn presidential campaign, the 1988 Bruce Babbitt presidential campaign, the 1988 Lloyd Bentsen vice-presidential campaign, and the 1992 Bob Kerrey presidential campaign—four woeful efforts.
As press secretary, McCurry was political enough to explain a presidential position—even an untenable one—with eloquence and a straight face; honest (and cynical) enough to wink at reporters and whisper his real views to them later; ironic enough to joke about it all on the press plane a month afterward.
McCurry has never been, and never wants to be, one of the inner-circle obsessives who will do anything—including lie, cheat, and steal—to help their boss.

McCurry has been the public face of the White House spin machine, the first spokesman to allow his daily briefings to be televised.

After succeeding Dee Dee Myers at the famous podium, McCurry tried to be an ambassador between a president, who disdained the press, and reporters, who didn't much trust the president.
