Scioscia led the team to its first World Series championship in 2002 as a wild card entry, as well as to its fourth American League (AL) West division title in 2004 (their first since 1986), and fifth AL West division title in 2005.
Mike Scioscia was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1st round (19th overall pick) of the 1976 amateur draft, debuting for the Dodgers in 1980 (replacing Steve Yeager) and went on to play 12 years for the team.
Scioscia is one of the few managers in the Major Leagues who is bilingual in both English and Spanish, an especially rare skill for a manager who is not a native Spanish speaker.

Scioscia was drafted in the first round, the 19th pick overall, in the June, 1976 Major League draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Scioscia took over the primary catching duties in 1982, but he tore the rotator cuff in his right shoulder in 1983 and played in only 12 games, watching as the Dodgers reached the playoffs before being eliminated by his hometown Philadelphia Phillies.
Scioscia tried to continue his career with both the San Diego Padres and Texas Rangers in 1993 and '94, but another rotator cuff injury in the spring of 1993 was too much to overcome and his playing career was finished.

Well, to be fair, Mike Scioscia made an agressive move towards a 69 year old man, explained cheating as "accepted" (which, in the day of the steroid, is a bad position to take) and then proceeded to say that pine tar didn't even help his pitcher.
Mike acted incorrectly in the heat of the moment, should have accepted the fact that his pitcher had done something illegal and moved on.
Scioscia isn't even debating the fact that there was pine tar on the glove, just that there wasn't enough to doctor the ball.
