The Founders of Industrial Arts in the US
Although technology education in the United States may be regarded as having been founded in the early twentieth century as industrial arts, the historical roots of the field have been traced back much further.
The rationale for cultural industrial education was that children needed to learn about technologies of the home and of commercial industry to understand their increasingly technological world.
Secondly, the popularity of viewing industrial arts or technology education as a method is unlikely to have been the result of misapplication of the Bonser-Mossman theory.
