With the US claiming to have proof Iraq is being secretive about its alleged weapons programs, and the allied military build-up in the Gulf continuing, the poll also found most people in almost all the countries thought a military showdown was imminent.
But only in Australia and the US did most people say their country should support action if it proceeded - 89 per cent of Australians expected a war with Iraq and 53 per cent said Australia should back the war if it broke out.

If you are worried about 'international public opinion', keep in mind that a mine is not a really effective weapon for invading another country, stealing their natural resources, and enslaving their people.
I doubt that anybody in the entire world is worried that Australia is going to invade them, steal their natural resources, and enslave their people.

Australia will spend $550 million to buy 59 M1A1 Abrams tanks from the US military, in a "mates' rates" deal that includes free training, support vehicles, spare parts and maintenance.
