The Millennium train "M" Set is CityRail's (Sydney) newest member of the electric fleet (4th generation train), manufactured by EDi Rail, in Newcastle.
The Millennium train, like the Tangara, is a four-car consist, with the middle two cars being non-control motor cars and the two outer cars being driving control trailer cars fitted with the pantograph.
The Millennium train is equipped with an AC drive system, whereas the Tangara has a DC drive system (except G7, which was scrapped after the Waterfall train disaster on 31 January 2003).

Tuesday 17 June 2003, 8:05 PM The NSW Auditor-General rushed out a report on the besieged Millennium train project showing a $100 million cost blowout and more than 500 ignored defects, as another two trains were pulled from the tracks.
Auditor-General Bob Sendt was to have tabled his report on the beleaguered high-tech trains on Thursday, but the opposition beat him to it when it released the draft version.
Premier Bob Carr admitted the cost blowout, but maintained the Millennium trains were still a good deal and said safety had never been compromised.

The trains are still awful, as there must be some State directive that no adult wood coaster in Ohio is allowed to have a decent train.
It is refreshing to be able to sit down in a PTC train and pull the lap bar down to its third detent without having to force it.
I don't know what was going on, but it took the crew forever to clear the train for dispatch, so long, in fact, that the other pair of trains had to wait for us.
