Evidence for the Benefits of Resistance Tests   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-07)
This was associated with a greater decrease in the viral load among those with genotype results (-1.2 log copies per milliliter) than the other arm (-0.7 log copies per milliliter).
Undetectability (less than 500 copies per milliliter) was significantly associated with the number of active drugs at baseline ("odds ratio" of 1.69 for each drug).
However, the study endpoint had a much less stringent definition of at least -0.5 log copies per milliliter reduction in viral load that was persistent for the entire follow-up duration.

 MedFriendly.com: Milliliter
A liter is a measurement of the amount of space that a liquid takes up in a container, which is equal to 1.056688 quarts.
Since one liter is a little bit less than one quart, 4 liters of milk is a little bit less than one gallon of milk.
Milliliter comes from the Greek word "milli" meaning "one thousand," and the Greek word "litra" meaning "pound." Put the two words together and you have "one thousand(th) (of a) pound."

The deliverable amount of alprostadil in each milliliter is 10 micrograms because approximately 0.5 microgram is lost due to adsorption to the vial and syringe; 20-microgram vial--When reconstituted as directed with 1 milliliter of bacteriostatic water for injection or sterile water, both preserved with benzyl alcohol 0.945% w/v, gives 1.13 milliliter of reconstituted solution.
The deliverable amount of alprostadil in each milliliter is 20 micrograms because approximately 0.5 microgram is lost due to adsorption to the vial and syringe.

4 of 8 Persons with HIV "Partially Control" Their Viral Loads 8 Months After 3 Structured Treatment ...   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-07)
At the time of starting the STI, the viral loads were all undetectable at a lower limit of 20 copies per milliliter and had been at that level for at least eight months.
Six of eight had a viral set-point after the third STI that was at least 0.5 log copies per milliliter lower than their baseline (pre-HAART) viral load.
Specifically, a set-point decrease after the second or third STI that was greater than -0.5 log copies per milliliter was associated with a greater increase in the LPR "stimulation index" or SI (increase of 4-12 SI units).

At the most recent measurement, 100% had an undetectable viral load (limit 400-500 copies per milliliter.) The viral loads in two patients (15%) were detectable at levels of 163 and 497 copies per milliliter.
Interestingly, one of those three patients with a detectable viral load (134 copies per milliliter) pre-STI did have minor "blips" of viral load during the STI that were all less than 200 copies per milliliter.

Triple combination antiretroviral therapy can be "safely" delayed in patients with CD4+ T cell counts higher than 200 cells per milliliter, according to two studies presented yesterday at the XIV International AIDS Conference in Barcelona, Spain, the
Normal counts are between 600 to 800 cells per milliliter.
The study found that while it was "detrimental" to delay treatment until after CD4+ T cell counts dropped below 200 cells per milliliter, there was "almost no difference" between people who started treatment with counts between 201 and 350 and between 351 and 500.
