The Descendents   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
In 1980 they enlisted Stevenson's old schoolfriend Milo Aukerman as a singer, and reappeared as a punk band, becoming a major player in the hardcore scene developing in Los Angeles at the time.
Their first release with Aukerman, 1981's Fat EP, was a furious six-minute barrage of teen angst and goofball humour, featuring such songs as "My Dad Sucks" and the 16-second "I Like Food".
Milo Aukerman really was off to college, to embark on an education that would take him as far as a doctorate in biochemistry, while Bill Stevenson became for a while the drummer with fellow hardcore punks Black Flag.

Bill and I were over there about a month ago, just talking to people and trying to help set it up and I caught the intestinal flu and we went down to the red light district and watched women dancing in front of windows.
Just the other night, Milo and I were in Bouncing Souls truck with the lasagna tray, like the big foil tray that they had earlier brought the lasagna in, and we went in the Bouncing Souls truck and one of us guarded the door while the other one shat.

MILO: We played there once in '87 when we packed it as well.
MILO: I used to play goalie, yeah--had a lot of fun doing it and like I live in Wisconsin so I watch the Badgers play so that's kinda cool.

Sound Bites - Entertainment   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
Ranging from the seminal shot heard around the world in "Milo Goes to College" through All's (drummer Bill Stevenson's new version of the band) continuation up until today, the Descendents have remained one of the few bands able to overshadow the music released by their '80s punk rock counterparts.
As trends come and go with the wind, the likelihood that a band will stay true to their traditional methods of song structure, writing style and overall delivery is highly unlikely.
With Stevenson's masterful tear-jerking lyrical capability to Aukerman's narratives surrounding his bouts with the alienation he suffers as a Ph.D.-holding biochemist, the new album's subject matter doesn't stray too far from home.

All (band)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
All is a punk band formed by some members of The Descendents.
After singer Milo Aukerman left The Descendents in 1987 to pursue a graduate degree in biochemistry, his three remaining bandmembers formed All, naming themselves after the Descendents' last record.
The best introduction to All's work is "All," a best-of album released on Stevenson's Owned & Operated label, with remastered songs, an extensive booklet with lyrics, photos, a complex family tree of the The Descendents/All track selection by the fans, and an otherwise unavailable song with Aukerman.

After a nine-year layoff, the bespectacled Milo and crew have returned with an album as raucous and engrossing as any of their previous outings.
Unlike many of the bands who followed in their footsteps, Descendents add a welcome touch of sardonic humor to their existential rancor, making you laugh along with the bleak narrative of the title tune, even as you empathize with the poor sap whose life is in shreds.
Only a mind as deliciously twisted as Milo's could come up with as bizarre a tale as "Eunuch Boy" and manage to cram the entire lyric into 30 furious seconds.
