Coertse made her debut in January 1955 as the First Flower girl in Wagner 's Parsifal at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Karl Bohm conducting.
Coertse sang the soprano part in Bach 's Matthäus-Passion at Fritz Wunderlich 's first appearance at Vienna in 1958, when he did the tenor arias with Julius Patzak singing the Evangelist.

The South African soprano Mimi Coertse studied in Johannesburg and in Vienna.
She was a guest to the Royal Opera House and Covent Garden in London, the Glyndebourne Festival, Cogne, Rome, Brussels, and other major European music centres.
In 1958, Coertse and Fritz Wunderlich again worked together at the Aix-en-Provence festival in Die Zauberflöte.

She has spent over two decades as the youngest elected permanent member of the Wiener Staatsoper and in 1996 received the highest accolade for artists from the Austrian government: the Oesterreichishe Ehrenkreuz für Wissenschaft und Kunst.
Coertse has recommenced her Debut with Mimi project this year, which involves promoting singers and young artists, and is currently planning to start an opera company for the youth, similar to the Black Tie Ensemble, of which she is a co-founder.

This is the first opera to be staged by the Music Department of the University of Pretoria in some twenty years.
The renowned soprano Mimi Coertse is directing the student cast; the University Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Eric Rycroft.
There are three performances in the Musaion at UP, all at 19.30, from Tuesday 9 to Thursday 11 September.

These works are true gems that have for too long been collecting dust on the shelves.
Originally released on LP, and in some cases NEVER before seeing the light of day, among them are two 1976 recordings of the Johannesburg City Hall organ - the first ones after the rebuild, featuring works by Bonnet, Liszt and others and rare recordings from the 1970's featuring South African diva Mimi Coertse.
Release dates are scheduled for November 2001, and advance ordering or further details can be obtained by e-mailing the Organmaster.

The collection kicked off with 30 authoritative books on history, art and music donated by Mimi Coertse and the more than 150 books on the Anglo-Boer War donated by Mr Richard Searle.
The collection was expanded with 1, 300 books on several different subjects that are on loan from the Hertzog Trust.
