Minden Township was formed a part of the township of Neola until 1877, when, through the efforts of Mr.
The boundaries are Harrison County on the north, Pleasant Township on the east, York Township on the south and Neola Township on the west.
Township officers were: Henry Holzfoster, Joseph Holm and Peter Langer, trustees; Julius Stuhr, Clerk; John W. Crow and John Geiger, justices of the peace; G. Leitzke, constable and Gustave Baumsberger, assessor.

In 1874, the Townships of Minden, Snowden and Stanhope were transferred from the County of Peterborough, and Lutterworth, Anson and Hindon were transferred from the County of Victoria.
This township was also named in honor of a distinguished soldier, Brigadier General Sir William Eyre, born in 1805, died 1859, entered the 6th regiment of infantry in 1823 as an ensign and was promoted through all the steps, until in 1854 he received his command of a brigade in the army of the east.
This township was surveyed in 1872 and was named in honor of Sir Colin Campbell, grand officer of the Legion of Honor, a Field Marshal in the British Army, Commander-in-Chief in the East Indies, born near Glasgow in 1792, died in 1863.

 Haliburton County History
In 1861 the two Townships of Minden and Stanhope contained a population of 230; in 1873, twelve years later, this number had increased to 1,175, an increase which if not very rapid is a least satisfactory and encouraging.
In this contest Minden was victorious, but as Haliburton succeeded in establishing itself as the terminus of the railway, it bore its defeat in the County Town contest with great equanimity, confident that sooner or later its railway advantages would make it the metropolis of the north country.
But at the present date the Township of Minden derives considerable pecuniary advantage from the village being the seat of the County Government, and the whole municipality is in a sound financial condition.

Michigan Peat argued that the roads it constructed in the Minden Bog were created solely for the purpose of moving mining equipment for the company's peat harvesting operations and pointed to the CWA provision that the discharge of dredged or fill material for "the purpose of construction or maintenance of.
First, the Township argued that the 3-acre portion of the parcel used by Township residents was separate from the "facility" where the leaking drums were found.
The trial court had held the Township failed to demonstrate that there "was a reasonable basis to conclude that the harm [was] divisible and whether the harm [was] capable of being divided." The Sixth Circuit, however, held that the trial court applied the wrong standard for determining divisibility.

MINDEN - A Ministry of Natural Resources canine unit, a forensic firearm examiner and a time of death report from a veterinarian played key roles in the successful prosecution of a Minden man on several hunting offences.
Derek Rowden, 29, of Minden, pleaded guilty and has been fined $2,000 for illegal night hunting, $1,000 for hunting deer without a licence, $500 for shooting from a roadway and $500 for transporting an untagged deer.
The court was told Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) Minden District Conservation Officers encountered Rowden in Minden Township on the evening of November 8, 2003.

JOHN N. John N. Maguire, identified with the farming and stock-raising interests of Carson township, his home being on section 25, is busily engaged in the cultivation of a good tract of land of one hundred and sixty acres.
He first settled in Silver Creek township, where he purchased land and developed a farm, making his home there until the spring of 1902, when he sold his property and invested his means in his present farm, comprising one hundred and sixty acres of rich and productive land on section 25, Carson township.

Significantly, the Joseph House found in earlier census records who was thought to be our Joseph C. House is notably absent from the 1830 census, verifying the likelihood that he was the Joseph House who died circa 1823.
An act of nature, which may have had a devastating affect on the House family, occurred in the month of August 1834, when a cyclone passed over the township from east to west, devastating a strip of country two miles in width.
In summary, all the House family, (with exception of two daughters, Eliza and Sarah, who married and moved elsewhere), farmed in Dover and West Union Townships, all 3 to 4 miles northeast of the village of West Union and in close proximity to each other.
