		I stated this in response to postings stating that Taiwan universities are bogged down in politics and corruption.
		The reason that I unreservedly continue to recommend MCU is that it continues to be a fair place to work.
		Ming Chuan University remains a good place to work.

		For those unfamiliar with exams at Ming Chuan, it is another one of the activities that the school refers to as a tradition.
		MCU has a long history of requiring 4 years of communicative language instruction from all students regardless of their department.
		While some national universities may have a high enough caliber of student that they will be able to meet the standard through their own initiative, the vast majority of private schools, and even low-ranked national schools are a different story.

		The poll, conducted by Ming Chuan University at Kinmen's Shuitou Wharf on Taiwan businessmen plying the direct route between Kinmen and Xiamen between Oct. 17 and 23 in 2004, collected 329 effective questionnaires out of 400 issued.
		The poll was released in tandem with the fourth anniversary of the direct trade, postal and transportation links, or commonly known as the "mini three-links," between the two outlying islands with mainland China's Fujian province.
		Fan Chung-yuan, director of the university's cross-strait affairs department, said the residents' discontent shows that the measure has failed to meet the people's needs for more convenient exchanges with China.

		The overall picture was that college and university presidents were earnestly striving to address and resolve many pressing issues.
		This is quite an achievement for a modest-sized, student-centered, values-based, co-educational, Catholic university sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.

		Joann received her B.S. degree in Business Administration from Ming Chuan University with a concentration in marketing and later went abroad to continue her studies at Washington State University in Pullman, a popular thing-to-do at the time for college graduates in Taiwan who could afford to do so.
		Though her flight to Washington State was her first trip to America, Joann was not at all afraid to use her English when she asked the passenger next to her what time they would touch ground in Pullman.

	KINMEN RESIDENTS FLUNK 'MINI THREE LINKS' POLICY IN SURVEY
		Taipei, Dec. 27 (CNA) Residents of the outlying island of Kinmen have given the government's "mini three links" policy with mainland China a failing grade three years after its implementation, a survey released Saturday showed.
		The poll, conducted by Ming Chuan University, showed that the residents gave the policy a grade of 56.6 points.
		This was below the passing level of 60 points and even lower than the 58 points assessed last year.
