	Miniseries - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The term serial is preferred for short-run British television drama, which has been a staple of UK schedules since the early 1950s when serials such as The Quatermass Experiment (1953) established the popularity of the form.
		The series The Prisoner was originally pitched by Patrick McGoohan for 9 episodes, and expanded to 17 due to studio concerns that such a short series would be difficult to sell.
		These are also known as limited series, as opposed to one-shots or a trade paperback.

		The Battlestar Galactica mini series present what is more of a cross between a cautionary futuristic military science fiction drama and a post-apocalyptic tale of survival that happens to be set in space.
		Those wishing to translate BG into a campaign really will not have a lot to worry about when importing the mini series over to their systems, it is just a pseudo-modern group of people dropped into a non-specified futuristic setting with spacecraft.
		Serious changes were made to the underlying story from that of the original, many major characters were altered or just not presented.

		The series kicks off with Donovan videotaping some intense grenade battle between two warring cultural stereotypes, but it was all a red herring to distract viewers: soon, up in the skies, there they be: flying saucers, and a whole lot of 'em.
		This was one of the less thought-out scenes of the series, as Caleb survives for a good minute or so stuck in the freeze chamber right after we see another guy lose an arm just by touching the god damn door.
		One of the great things about the series was how multilayered the characters were -- there were all sorts of double-crossings and that kinda junk, with some aliens acting as heroes, and some humans acting worse than any of the Visitors could.

		It kicks the original series into some obscure backwater dimension where I am quite happy to see it remain while this truly excellent new version gets the go-ahead for a full series and shows us how the concept SHOULD have been handled from the very beginning.
		Start with the mini series (which is what I've seen so far), it seems it sets up the whole thing.
