Questions have been asked of this minister all week as to whether or not her ministry has been doing what it is supposed to do, which is to analyze, research and advocate on behalf of women in the province.
For the women in the Liberal opposition: join the women's movement, stand up for the issues that are important to the women of this province, and speak out for the things that are affecting women's lives on a daily basis, instead of taking hypocritical political shots at the minister, who is doing her job.

In discussing the rights and freedoms of women, it is often correctly observed that the emancipation of women is one of the most obvious indicators of the development of a country.
Women political prisoners are kept in so-called "residential units" (cement cages, 50 cm square), with their heads cramped down onto their knees, for months at a time.
During the war, women were urged to send their loved ones to the war front, sell all their belongings and donate them to the mullahs' war chest, and even participate in such gruesome tasks as searching through the corpses and blood-drenched clothes of victims, piecing them together, and washing and burying them.

The majority of people affected by poverty were women; women suffered from HIV/AIDS and were among the main victims of conflict.  To address those issues, a new commitment was needed to achieve gender equality and advance the implementation of the outcome of the Beijing Conference.
Those laws gave women equal access to land use and ownership.  Among the remaining challenges was to ensure that the other eight areas of the Beijing Platform were tackled quickly.
Women were also promoted for high-level positions within the Government.  Women had been nominated as ministers for health and family.  Restructuring of the education system was under way to give women a larger role in the development of the country.  Also, efforts had been initiated to address violence against women.
