Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), is a department of the government of Canada responsible for natural resources, energy, minerals and metals, forests, earth sciences, mapping and remote sensing.
Its involvement in natural resources goes back to the creation of the first Canadian government scientific entity by the Province of Canada in 1842.
The Minister of Natural Resources as of February 6, 2006 is Gary Lunn.
