Reflecting the nationwide changes in the U.S. highway system in its first few years of existence, new routes were soon extended into Minnesota: 77 (briefly duplexed with 12 near the South Dakota border) was added about 1930; the entirely intra-state 371 was established in 1931 and 169 was extended into the state in 1932.
Minnesota began to mark the additional routes added by the legislature in 1933, which required a major redesign of the numbering system.
Another change shown on this map: trunk highway 59 from the Iowa border to Lake City is shown as U.S. Now, at that time 59 did not exist, and it is possible that this was a proposal to create a U.S. highway from Iowa to Minnesota that fortuitously could utilize the former marked route number.

 Highway 58 Construction Begins Next Month - Red Wing
Highway 58 through traffic will be detoured via Goodhue County Highway 9 (in Goodhue), Goodhue County Highway 6, Minnesota State Highway 19 and U.S. Highway 61 (see map).
Highway 58 will remain open for local traffic, and access will be maintained for residents and businesses throughout the construction project via the nearest side road.
Highway 58 is scheduled to reopen to traffic by mid-November of this year.

Prior to STH-109's removal from the state highway system, Bob Spoerl at WisDOT noted, "an interesting enigma in the Village of Hustisford in Dodge County: On a state map, it appears that STH 60 and 109 intersect.
The highway was complete from Marinette to Antigo (although it did run along present CTH-M from today's US-141 into Suring), from Goodrich to Bloomer, and from STH-79 (now STH-128) east of Forest through to the Minnesota state line.
One of the shorter state trunklines in the Wisconsin, STH-68 is actually part of a through-route via STH-33 from Portage to the west, heading to Waupun on the east, where connections are made to routes to Fond du Lac and Oshkosh.

 Minnesota Historic Sites: Split Rock Lighthouse Lake Superior International Highway
The North Shore road was originally called Trunk Highway No. 1 and was an important part of Minnesota's highway system when it opened in the mid-1920s.
The Highway Department relented, and the road was officially designated the Lake Superior International Highway on March 12, 1926.
Renamed Trunk Highway 61 to eliminate duplication of numbers in an expanded highway system in 1934, the Lake Superior International Highway's development allowed tourism to develop and flourish along the North Shore.

Note: According to the Bureau of Public Roads' 1925 US Highway Plan and the Iowa State Highway Commission Service Bulletin from the fall of 1925, US 55 in Iowa was originally supposed to be an extension of US 53 from its southern terminus in La Crosse, WI, to Dubuque.
(Minnesota also signed US 55 instead of 53, according to the Postville Herald of October 14, 1926.) The January 1, 1927, map was the first map to show US 55, but the change was not mentioned in Highway Commission meeting notes or newspaper articles.
With the July 1, 2003, decommissionings of the southern IA 15 and IA 77, this is the only case where highway numbers are duplicated, as there is a much longer IA 136 in east-central Iowa.
