The earliest Minoan pottery from the Dodecanese (the Serraglio on Kos, Ialysos/Trianda on Rhodes) and the coast of Western Anatolia (Iasos, Miletus, Knidos) is probably also of this period.
Minoan artists and craftsmen have been considered by some to be resident at some Mainland sites at this time (potters at Ayios Stephanos, smiths at Mycenae).
It is against this backdrop of marked Minoan cultural expansion in the early Neopalatial period that, in the opinion of most specialists, the later Greek traditions of a Minoan thalassocracy (or sea-empire) must be evaluated for their potential historicity.

Minoan Qe-Ra-Si-Ja. The Religious Impact of the Thera Volcano on Minoan Crete — The Thera Foundation
The evidence for connecting the goddess 'qe - ra - si - ja' with Thera is considered, and the author speculates on whether she was the object of the pumice cult for which there is widespread evidence on Crete.
Accorrding to A. Heubeck it further implies that the true name of the goddess, if she was already worshipped before the arrival of the Greeks in Crete, remains unknown to us for the original name was replaced by the Greek formation 'qe - ra - si - ja' that is "The goddess from Qụhērāsos/-ā".
That a local goddess belonging to the island of Thera was worshipped also in Crete is quite possible since the Minoans were in close contact with that island, as has been proved by the excavations at Akrotiri.
