Speaking of which, The Guide describes humans as the THIRD most intelligent species on the planet which must be true since I can’t think of a dolphin or a mouse that would shell out $10 to see this Galaxy.
Incidentally, The Guide also describes humans as so primitive that we still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea and I can confirm that fact since I glanced at mine repeatedly during the film.

Important points in the story occur when Adams strays from the main plot, and jumps into a description of the history of a certain object, person or event as described by the "Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy", a futuristic electronic know-all dictionary.
The mini takes this to heart so it seems, and sticks with it, showing viewers animated sequences to what the Guide would be showing it's user.

I saw The Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy over the weekend.
So as someone who has been a huge fan of all things Hitchhiker since I first heard Fit the Second[1] in 1978 I can't understand people who say this is somehow inferior to the other versions.
I hope some of the bits of the Guide that were excised will show up in the sequels (assuming they make it now the box office returns are in), mind.
