The Sommet de la Francophonie, held in Moncton in September 1999, enabled the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) to highlight the benefits of Atlantic Canada's business community and to strengthen ties and partnerships among businesses, associations, universities and governments in Atlantic Canada and Francophone countries.
The Agency supported the formation of a consortium of Francophone and Acadian organizations to prepare a strategic plan to develop export markets for entrepreneurs in the arts and culture.
Finally, ACOA also participated in the activities of three sectoral working groups (rural development, youth and tourism) of the National Committee for Canadian Francophonie Human Resources Development, a committee created by Human Resources Development Canada.
