 Looking for Mary Polly Sole
She was buried in the cemetery at Minster, Sheppey along side William Bowen as Mary Bowen.
Later when 'Polly' had moved to Minster on Sheppey after William took a job as a 'Dockyard Stone Mason' in Sheerness dockyard, Polly was left some money, possibly on the death of a Sarah Sole.
There were a number of 'Sole' families on Sheppey and they seemed to be members of a 'Congregational Church' this may explain some 'prim, fastidious and proper' aunts who came to visit my grandmother, but as far as I know the 'Soles' of Sheerness were not related to Polly.

S Y N T H E S I S - The Great Kent Churches: How Did They Survive Their Exposure to the Viking Attacks of the Ninth Century?
On the other hand, one factor which contributed to the actual survival of the two island minsters, is that whilst they could not physically prevent their opponents from ultimately destroying both themselves and their treasured possessions, given sufficient warning the resident Christian populations were able to seek refuge within the walls of Canterbury.
As Brooks explains, the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle “was not concerned to record the fortunes of churches and monasteries”[ 32 ], and both Sheppey and Thanet experienced a sudden “disappearance from the record”[ 33 ] in the second half of the ninth century.
The latter, in particular, was “of tremendous strategic value.”[ 22 ] The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle tells us that Sheppey was “devastated”[ 23 ] in 835, and Asser mentions the Viking occupations of 851[ 24 ] and 855[ 25 ].
