		Amnesiac, she is working as a hostess at the local chapter of the Hell Fire Club, populated by local dignitaries who have summoned forth the demon Marchosias.
		To Pargeter's horror, Marchosias informs her that this is the dress intended for the Queen of Hell; it appears that Dashwood intends to take Charley as his bride.
		Dashwood claims that the "Queen of Hell" routine is a ceremony to summon Lucifer; Charley is to be Lucifer's bride, not Dashwood's.

		Alan W. Lear and Gary Russell's 'Minuet In Hell' marks a significant event in the world of the Big Finish audios for it is the final story of the McGann 'season' 27, and as such it is fitting that this season concludes with a bang.
		The plot of Minuet In Hell is probably one of the most complex ones that Big Finish have attempted, and with a running time of just under two and a half hours (don't let the cover's approximate running time of 130 minutes fool you) it is certainly one of the longest that they've done.
		Minuet In Hell complex plot does mean that it requires a greater degree of attention than some of the other audios, but it's worth it as the story is really excellent.

		At 150 minutes, Minuet In Hell is one of the longest Big Finish adventures they've made - the equivalent of about six and a half televised episodes.
		And Minuet In Hell certainly does drag on interminably through its plot, and I can't help but think that you could have chopped out a lot of what was happening with ease, making this story easier to digest.
		Firstly there's the main plot about Dashwood trying to take on the powers of Hell using the Hell Fire Club, which is a fairly standard plot in itself, nothing huge, been done before though.

	The Tertiary Console Room: Review - Doctor Who - Minuet In Hell
		Paul McGann's involvement in the early episodes is kept to a minimum, but in the scenes where he is involved he is quite excellent as the man without his memories and the scene where the Brigadier meets him but is unaware of who he is, is splendid.
		Minuet In Hell's complex plot does mean that it requires a greater degree of attention than some of the other audios, but it's worth it as the story is really excellent.
		Minuet In Hell even manages to tie up the loose ends of the Ramsey the Vortisaur mini-arc in a way that's important to the story.

	Doctor Who - Big Finish Productions
		The release for April 2001 is written by Alan W Lear, with Gary Russell, and is directed by Nicholas Briggs and was recorded on the 19th May and 2nd July 2000.
		With no memory of how she got there or even her own name she manages to escape with the feisty Becky Lee and becomes involved with Senator Waldo Pickering who is not whom he seems.
		With her memories starting to return Charley returns to the Hell Fire Club and finds herself in even greater danger when she is captured and is summoned by Dashwood himself and then she comes face-to-face with the demons.

		Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart is present at Malebolgia's inauguration, conducting a secret investigation of Dashwood's facilities, where one of the mental patients claims to know the Brigadier of old.
		Somewhat gentler on the ears is Helen Goldwyn as Pickering's granddaughter, Becky Lee Kowalczyck, a kind of southern Buffy, who is adept at kicking demon butt and provides a spirited foil to the strait-laced Brigadier.
		The activities of the Hell Fire Club, where companion Charley (India Fisher) is forced to don a number of erotic outfits and threatened with a whip, would be too unsavoury for Who if it were presented on TV or perhaps even in a novel.

	The Brig issue - Johnny Fanboy
		The Time Lord is surprised that the Brigadier recognises him, until the Brig explains that he has already encountered the Doctor's eighth incarnation in 1988.
		OK so far - the Doctor is a time-traveller after all - but then in the Big Finish CD Minuet in Hell, the Eighth Doctor crosses paths with the Brigadier in the early 21st century, but the Brig doesn't recognise him.
		In Minuet in Hell, Gideon Crane clearly states that the current century is the 21st, while Becky Lee Kowalczyck indicates that she was born in the late 1970s, and the Eighth Doctor arrives in the USA intent upon visiting Grace Holloway, whom he first met in 1999.

		Minuet In Hell is by far the better of Paul McGann's first full season in the role of the Doctor.
		Minuet In Hell brings Paul McGann`s first audio season to a satisfying conclusion, tying up some loose ends (Ramsey) and leaving others waiting to be resolved (Charley).It also returns The Doctor to America, fittingly given that this is where the Eighth`s adventures began.
		Overall Minuet In Hell is highly enjoyable with great acting and a great script thrown in for good measure.

	My Reviews - Audio Visuals Reviews Condensed
		Minuet in Hell is the first Audio Visual to delve back into Earth's past is a wonderful story.
		The chracterisation is excellent, the plot lines come together well, the incidental music is fantastic, the villains' scheme is well thought out and the scenes between the Doctor and Gideon in Bedlam are excellent.
		There is another On-Tape following Minuet in Hell, looking at the production side of things, with an interview with Jim Mortimore about creating the incidental music for various AVs.

		The plays were recorded out of order, with overlapping sessions for The Stones of Venice and Sword of Orion on 15-16 May followed by Minuet in Hell, taped on 17 May with additional sessions in early July.
		Both Sword of Orion and Minuet in Hell were based on Audio Visuals stories of the same names, expanded and revised by their original authors (though Orion was originally released under Briggs' pen name, Samuel Flint).
		The entire race of aliens was voiced by Helen Goldwyn, her voice repitched to make her unrecognisable from her other leading roles as Chev in Sword of Orion and Becky Lee in Minuet in Hell.

		The accents are just as fake-sounding as they were in last week's Minuet In Hell, but here it works because you know they're not supposed to sound right.
		Of course, Invaders From Mars has two significant differences from Minuet In Hell that make it superior.
		It's confusing and incoherent, but when every episode save the last one comes in under the 23 min time limit, it's confusing and incoherent for less time (and much easier to deal with than Minuet In Hell's epic badness).

		It's a long story (a bit more thsn 2 1/2 hours long), and I am finding out Big Finish for the Season finales like to follow the old Doctor Who method of having the final being equivalent to a 6 parter in length (although they only split them up to 4 parts still).
		Minuet in Hell starts off "in medias res." The Doctor is in an assylum, and his memory has been affected.
		He sort of remembers who he is, but on the other hand, especially later in the story, he also encounters someone else who claims to be the Doctor.

		The only downside is the typical ‘Who’ way of giving a character an interesting background, then forgetting about it within a few stories.
		A good example being Charley’s casual attitude to being press-ganged into becoming a hostess at the Hell Fire Club, being dressed in a leather dominatrix outfit and all that this entails.
		You would think that she would be a little more shocked and concernedHelen Goldwyn’s ‘Becky the Vampire Slayer’ is fun, as is her teaming up with Charley and the Brig, but you can’t help feeling that such a comic-strip style character is slightly at odds with the stories seriousness.
