MirOS BSD (the original name MirBSD is deprecated) is a free operating system, which started as a fork of OpenBSD 3.1 in August 2002.
One of the projects goals is to port the MirOS to run on the Linux kernel, hence the deprecation of MirBSD in favor of MirOS.
MirBSD is based on OpenBSD and is currently available for the x86 platform.

MirBSD muss sich inhaltlich differenzieren, sonst wird in Kürze fertig sein, da es niemand einsetzen wird und dann den Entwicklern die Motivation und der Schnauf ausgehen.
Das stimmt allerdings: Ohne klaren Fahrplan, wird MirBSD in der Kuriositätenecke bleiben.
Mirabile: Bisher weiss auch ich nicht, warum ich MirBSD einem meiner Gentoos vorziehen sollte.

I've also uploaded a recent snapshot of MirBSD yesterday to the usual place, and would like to say thanks to every tester with positive and negative feedback *hint*.
But the Acer support is sending me a person from UPS to fetch it for repairing (I'm allowed to remove the HDD first, thanks).
developement plan for MirBSD, and decided to release a stable codebase before the switch to gcc-3.2.4 (so I can go back if everything is FUBAR in a sudden :).

Release MirBSD #4 by tagging the CVS repo.
Since the GNU Grub bootloader is licenced under the GNU GPLv2, I have made the source code with hacks of which it was apparently built available on this site because I have no idea whether GPL §3c will suffice to allow us distribution of the binary at any point in the future.
MirBSD now installs to andh27 partitions instead of andhA6 partitions by default.

Also, the GNU Compiler Collection 3.4.4 has made it into the source tree and is being ported; XFree86® has been contacted.
Open a "development branch" with the CVS Tag MIRBSD_7_DEV, which will be used to perform updates and bug fixes on the codebase of MirBSD #7 (semel, bis,...) and eventually release new versions of MirOS BSD #7 (ter,...) which are still pgcc-based.

The server has been designed to be secure in default configuration, it has no known vulnerability, it is really trivial to set up and it is especially designed for modern kernels.
It was successfully ported to Linux, FreeBSD, DragonflyBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, ISOS, MirBSD, BSDi, Solaris, Darwin, Tru64, Irix, AIX and HPUX.
At least Solaris, ISOS, MirBSD, OpenBSD, FreeBSD and Linux are known to be safe.
