Miracle   (Site not responding. Last check: )
Miracle is a term used by adherents of many religion s for what they say is an intervention by God in the universe.
The most obvious problem with this formally valid argument is that while the existence of miracles may imply the existence of a supernatural miracle worker, that supernatural miracle worker need not be an omnipotent, omniscient, and all-benevolent God; it could be any supernatural being.
The idea of miracles that contravened the laws of nature were hard to accept; however, at the same time they affirmed the truth of the accounts in the Tanakh.

Although the hockey film compares favourably to the equestrian drama, both films have the unfortunate tendency to allegorize more than their context justifiably allows.
The film's attempt to achieve this effect is the more disturbing by the fact that the characters' personalities and actions are by no means beyond reproach.

Miracle is told from Brooks' perspective, and, as a result, he's the only well-developed character.
(The film is dedicated to the coach, who died shortly after primary photography completed.) He has a wife (Patricia Clarkson), a son and daughter, and a burning desire to lead Team USA to an Olympic victory.

Russell a 'Miracle' in hockey film - Entertainment
As the team's doctor mentions early in the film, "Herb has a reason for everything." And as the film progresses, the players understand this, but through much of the film, Brook's tyrannical tactics oppress the boys until they begin to rely on one another.
The film's familial camaraderie and overt patriotism is reminiscent of John Ford ("She Wore a Yellow Ribbon," "How Green Was My Valley"), and like many of Ford's protagonists, Brooks is a flawed hero here.
Gavin O'Conner directed the film with a classical style, showing us that realism is not always best achieved by complexity, but often through a precise simplicity.

Life Is A Miracle : film review
Kusturica's films present a former Yugoslavia that's larger than life: salt-of-the-earth types trying to make a living against the odds, grotesque villains running scams and hatching evil plans, casualties of war without a brass farthing making their own entertainment.
Throw into any of his films the slapstick comedy, the gypsy brass bands that seem to play on every corner, the drunken lunacy, and the animals.
Kusturica's first feature since Black Cat White Cat, Life is a Miracle blends the knockabout comedy of that film, sometimes uncomfortably, with the horror of war, though the latter is mostly only heard, not seen.

Written by newbie Eric Guggenheim, the film is structured so that the thrust of the story isn’t the defeat of the Soviet Union, but how that defeat came to be.
“Miracle” is a valentine to Coach Brooks, and a deserved one (Brooks was tragically killed last year in a car accident).
How much is based in fact or fiction is not at issue with “Miracle.” The film is about the moment of victory, and what a beautiful moment it was.

 Film Blather: Miracle
Miracle, a fictionalized recounting of the well-known journey of the 1980 US Olympic Hockey Team, seems to have the underdog formula written all over it, especially as the story famously ends with the ultimate Big Game; surprisingly, Gavin O'Connor's film breaks convention where it counts.
Everybody who is anybody knows the tale, which could be an urban legend were it not evidently true: in an attempt to boost American morale, Herb Brooks (Kurt Russell) was hired to put together a hockey team that could compete against the seemingly invincible Soviets in the 1980 Winter Olympics on US soil.
The vast majority of the film is dedicated to coach Brooks' team-building strategies, which consist essentially of torturing his charges until they submit.

INSIDE HOCKEY: "Miracle" Film Review by Bobby Bryde   (Site not responding. Last check: )
Miracle depicts the story of USA's surprising triumph over the Soviet Union at Lake Placid in 1980, and is superior to the quickie Miracle on Ice (starring Karl Malden, 1981).
Plus: The film briefly touched on what in my opinion was the most memorable moment - seeing the perplexed and astonished looks on the Soviet players as they stood at center ice watching the explosion of joy by the American players.
First, a miracle is an event or effect that contradicts known scientific laws and is hence thought to be due to supernatural causes, especially an act of God.

Miracle (2004) - A Hollywood Jesus Movie Review
Based on the exciting true story of one of the greatest moments in modern history, "Miracle" is the inspiring story of the team that transcended its sport and united a nation with a new feeling of hope.
Of course, you can’t have too much spiritual content in a film of this genre, but I think it does a fine job commenting on the sovereignty of events and the value of being united with others for a common goal.
