Meanwhile the soldiers in the so-called {242} Melitene [Note 2] legion, which for its faith remains to this day, knelt down upon the ground, as we are accustomed to do in prayer, and betook themselves to supplication.
Eusebius observes that even the Pagans confessed the miracle, though they did not allow that it was attributable to the prayers of the Christians; and what is left of antiquity sufficiently confirms his statement.
Witsius, to evade the difficulty, maintains that the persecution was the consequence of a riot, and the hostility of local governors, Diatrib.

Miracle Legion is a Connecticut-based new wave jangle pop band begun in 1984, consisting of singer Mark Mulcahy, guitarist Ray Neal, drummer Jeff Wiederschall, and bassist Stephen West.
Likely formed due to the success of R.E.M., Miracle Legion's Mucahy and Neal musically resembled Michael Stipe and Peter Buck, respectively, and the band was often seen as a lesser copy, even as Miracle Legion eventually drifted further into country rock.

Polaris was a one-off musical project in the mid-1990s involving members of the Connecticut indie rock band Miracle Legion.
Mark Mulcahy, Spot "Scott" Boutier, and Dave McCaffrey performed music for the Nickelodeon television show The Adventures of Pete and Pete under the name Polaris because a fourth Miracle Legion member was not available at the time; occasional guests included Joyce Raskin, Dennis Kelly, and Buell Thomas.
Music from The Adventures of Pete and Pete, released in 1999 on Mulcahy's Mezzotint label, contains many of the songs Polaris recorded for the show and is the group's only album release.

Polaris were kinda Miracle Legion (minus one band member)- who despite releasing a couple of albums in the late eighties and early nineties were never really found the commercial success of some of their peers.
Mark Mulcahy has lamented that Miracle Legion "may have ended up being like R.E.M's 'little brother,' but they were really more influenced by the Gun Club, Mission of Burma, Husker Du - even the Clean." Above all, there was the "miracle of unmanning"—the process by which Schreber believed he was gradually being transformed into a woman.
Indeed, throughout his description of his transfiguration, Schreber never claims that he sprouted breasts or lost his penis—such miracles are limited to his internal organs—only that concentrated attention "gives the impression" of such changes.
Indeed, Sass sees the schizophrenic experience, in its detachment and "cerebral, hyper-reflexive awareness," as markedly similar to Wittgenstein's description of the "philosophical disease" of solipsism—the belief that "I alone exist, the world is my projection." Such a state is attained through inaction and concentrated perception—life becomes a "seeing-as" exercise.

Still around and well, Miracle Legion are about to play their first local gigs in exactly a year, hitting the Causeway on the 12th; Mulcahy also plays solo at the Phoenix Landing on the 16th.
The band's low recent profile is due partly to record-label blues: they spent most of a year getting off the floundering Morgan Creek label (which released their Drenched album in '92) and another year making a new album that they plan to release with money raised on their current mini-tour.
Initially R.E.M. -influenced, Miracle Legion moved to a more personal take on rustic folk/pop mysticism.

I fused the identities of two local bands, Miracle Legion and Small Factory, whose drummers I both know, to form the "Miracle Factory" of this story, where once again rock music (and beer) lend propulsive drive to the plot, much as jazz (and Prohibition) might have once flavored a Thorne Smith tale.
Informed of their defeat, they had explosively self-destructed, splattering Miracle Factory and much of the audience with what appeared to be hummus, tomato paste and strips of skin.
The members of Miracle Factory, along with many of the other variegated contestants, milled about next to the stage: a simple hexagonal affair, roughly half an acre in extent, empty at the moment.
