Mired - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Derived from the term micro reciprocal degree, the mired (M) is a unit of measurement equal to 1,000,000 (one million) divided by the given color temperature, as per the formula:
The mired is an especially convenient measure in photography, where it can be used to indicate color correcting filter densities, and the sensitivity of a given film.
That is, mired values seem to correspond more appropriately to given colors, and our perception of them, than color temperature values given in kelvins.

In the example provided I assumed you take a photograph with a photoflood lamp rated at 3200 K on a daylight film material rated at 5500 K. The red line intersects at a mired shift value of -130.
Here you have to refer to the mired shift value and ask in a store for a filter with that particular characteristic.
You will have to check with a store catering to the professional photographers, and may still have to search for a knowledgeable person; however, if you have found someone who is conversant in mired, you will have found someone who knows his/her field.

Mired is an acronym for micro reciprocal degrees.
Color correction filters which raise or lower the color temperature of a light source are best described by a mired shift value.
The problem with describing this increase or decrease with the Kelvin scale is that the result will vary, depending upon the Kelvin color temperature of the original source.

The United Church is mired in a big mess.
Our structures now are mired and in a big mess, pulpit vacancies abound, we are too inward looking, seeking only self interest and not the welfare of the church, and we are blind to our mistakes, and stuck in useless processes which some still proclaim as the answer to our needs.

rediff.com: Most Enron projects mired in controversy: BS
Enron's operations across the globe are mired in controversies and litigation.
Enron has a history of getting into difficulties, after its local opponents have alleged political favours to win bids, be it the pipeline project in Argentina to Chile or a diesel-fired power plant in the Philippines.
Back in 1993, following the visit of the former US secretary of state James Baker to Kuwait, Enron's bid to rebuild Shuaiba North, a 400-ma power plant, that supplied five per cent of Kuwait's electricity before it was bombed during the 1991 Gulf War, gained favour of the Kuwaiti government.

Volunteers poured forth from the youngest of the clutch, some no more than three years from their shells, and they were sent in large squads into the tunnel.
Since the Eye had opened, most of the clutch had taken to swimming beneath the waters of the swamp and moving to the mire’s edges, where the Eye would dry the muck into a soft crust.
Ugluur sank beneath the surface of the mire and swallowed a large gulp.

Yesterday I pointed out Rush Limbaugh’s analysis of the crackup of the Democrat Party via the liberal left, despite the left’s giggling over what they perceive as a serious rift among Republicans and the conservative base over the Harriet Miers nomination.
Two additional conservative pundits — Michael Barone and Tod Lindberg — have chimed in with more detailed analysis of just how it was that the Democrat Party has become inextricably mired in a liberal swamp of its own making.
One of their common sources was a recent publication by William Galston and Elaine Kamarck, two astute political observers who have taken much care in analyzing their beloved Democrat party and its foibles.

California mired in its own levee crisis
California's deteriorating network of water barricades - humbler in structure than those in the Big Easy but no less key to the health and safety of millions of residents - is prompting state and local officials to speak in "state of emergency" terms.
But even as concern mounts about the state of disrepair of levees in California, any internal resolution of the problem remains mired in partisan politicking.

Iran’s new President has a past mired in controversy
This was the typical reaction of most Iranians a day after the first round of presidential elections in Iran, when they heard that the two candidates facing each other in the run-off were veteran politician Ayatollah Ali-Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and the little-known, ultra-conservative mayor of Tehran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

You know what this MandM is: When a group has decided for whatever reasons that process is an end unto itself.
