Mirko Filipović - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipović (born on September 10, 1974) is a Croatian kickboxer turned mixed martial artist.
Also, Mirko had displayed considerable problems with his cardio during his fights with Emelianenko, Barnett and Hunt leading to the speculation that he was much too active and a resting period from the ring would work to his advantage.
Mirko won the fight with devastating punches and ground and pound resulting in a TKO victory in 1 minute 10 seconds of the 1st round.

Mirko 'Cro-Cop' Filipovic is already a legend in Japan and among fight-lovers the world over for his performances in the ultra-violent K1 no-holds-barred fighting championships, but as he prepares to battle for the world title on 28 August, he will be training with Cibalia.
While not a football expert, Filipovic is a reasonably skilful player, and was handed his debut for Cibalia in the second division last season.
At 105kg, there is certainly little doubting that Filipovic is not built like a footballer, and even if he does get the chance to play for Cibalia this season, he was not overconfident about his ability.

It was a reflection, firstly, of Noguiera’s skill, but secondarily, Filipovic’s weakness in ground fighting once an expert fighter has lasted despite his strikes, punches, and kicks.
For Filipovic, it is back to the drawing board; for Emelianenko, the question is who can find, and thusly, attack his weaknesses.

Mirko Filipovic's recent loss to Mark Hunt, 1-1 in the heavyweight division, causes him to slip from his former standard third position to fifth, allowing Arlovski to vault into third, and Russian Top Team stalwart Sergey Kharitonov to slide ahead into fourth.
Voters take on the Filipovic/Hunt debacle was varied; many ranked Mirko still at three while introducing Hunt into the Top 10, and many others saw Mirko slip to seventh or eighth in the rankings.
Hunt didn't quite surpass Mirko in the rankings likely due to a) his unproven and thus far mediocre accomplishments as an MMA Heavyweight, and b) the close margin of victory over Filipovic.

An approach that seems to work well against “Cro Cop” is to aggressively attack him as he tends to retreat when someone pushes the pace against him, as he did against both Emelianenko brothers (Fedor and Aleksander) and even with Barnett in their first fight.
As mentioned Mirko recently came up short in his quest to become the heavyweight champion, and it now appears “Cro Cop” might need to overcome some of the mental aspects of the game before he’s ready to reach the next level.
However, in a fight Mirko dominated for most of the first round he found himself in one of Nogueira’s patented submissions and was forced to tap out early in the second round.
