Miron Cristea (July 20, 1868—March 6, 1939) was the first Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church and Prime Minister of Romania for about a year (between February 11, 1938 and his death).
Miron Cristea was elected bishop of Caransebeş in 1910.
After the end of World War I, he was (with Vasile Goldiş, Iuliu Hossu, and Alexandru Vaida-Voevod) a member of Austro-Hungarian Romanian delegation that called for the unification of Romania and Transylvania.

 The "Holy Prophet Ilie" Monastery of Topliţa
Elie Miron Cristea, used to say, the idea behind the erection of this monastery appeared in 1911, but the actual completion only came in 1928, three years after his appointment as Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church (1925).

The Saint Elias cloister was originally built of spruce in Stanceni (Mures county) between 1845-47.
In 1910, the church decorated with valuable carvings and paintings was moved to Toplita in order to found a cloister by Miron Cristea.
