		Mirpurkhas (میرپور خاص) with a population of 124,371 (1981), is a south eastern Pakistani city, fourth largest in the Sindh Province.
		A broad gauge line has been laid from Mirpurkhas to Khokrapar, which is the border town from pakistani Side.
		Mirpurkhas city also have a medical college (Muahmmadi Medical College) affailated with Baqai Medical University, a number of Science and Technology institutes like MIST and CMS affailated with University of Sindh and with an own Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education.

	About IWMI
		This study had been conducted in the Mirpurkhas Sub-Division, the largest of the 5 divisions composed of six offtakes from the Jamrao Canal, and five from the West Branch Canal.
		Since initiating a research study on operational performance of the Jamrao Canal, Mirpurkhas Sub-Division in 1996, it has been observed that all the offtakes and cross regulators are being operated without knowing the actual discharge in the canal and its offtakes.
		Mirpurkhas Sub-Division of the Jamrao Canal has eleven head regulators (offtakes)-Six on the main Jamrao Canal and five on the West Branch Canal.

		MIRPURKHAS, May 21 : The Pakistan Railways has once again shifted the rehabilitation work on the Mirpurkhas-Khokhrapar railway track from Mirpurkhas to Khokhrapar while making some changes to its work plan for a third time.
		Just after one week, the railway authorities announced that now work would be initiated from Mirpurkhas again and that the federal minister for railways Mian Shamim Haider was to formally inaugurate it May 10.
		However, when the national as well international media teams arrived here to cover the event on the day, the programme was changed and it was announced that the federal minister could not come due to his illness.

		MIRPURKHAS, Feb 7: Growers have demanded of the Sindh government to announce special package for the Mirpurkhas district as it had been the worst affected by persistent shortage of water for the past four years.
		Criticizing the officials of irrigation department, he said that mismanagement on the part of the irrigation department had created a continuous shortage of water in the district, rendering hundreds of acres of fertile land barren.
		A group of Mirpurkhas district council members had sent complaints to the National Steering Committee over the alleged transfer of several Dera schemes, meant for the drought-affected areas of Mirpurkhas and Tharparkar districts, to the agriculture sector.

		Although one Prime Minister, one Chief Minister and several ministers, MNAs, and MPAs were produced by District Tharparkar, now Mirpurkhas Division, but none of them made any contribution to the development of this part of Sindh in the shape of medical and engineering colleges.
		I appeal to the philanthropists of Mirpurkhas division to contribute towards dialysis and angiography machines as they are urgently required by the poor people of this area.
