Miscibility is the ability of two substances to mix together.
When using the term in discussing refrigerants and oils, it refers to the ability of the gas and the oil to remain as one mixture, one homogeneous mixture, as they travel through the system, from the compressor and back to the compressor.
Proper heat transfer and efficient system operation require an oil and a gas that exhibit good miscibility, particularly in the evaporator where temperatures are lower.

This sort of miscible flooding is termed "developed miscibility," or "multiple-contact miscibility," wherein it is thought that the intermediates (C.sub.2 -C.sub.6) of crude oil transfer into the crude oil displacing fluid over a sustained period of exposure, as opposed to "first-contact miscibility," wherein a zone of contiguously miscible fluids will result.
The minimum pressure at which carbon dioxide is miscible with crude oil from a reservoir is determined at the ambient reservoir temperature and is referred to as the minimum miscibility pressure (MMP).
The miscibility of the carbon dioxide with the crude oil is adjusted by addition of hydrocarbons to develop miscibility, carbon dioxide via line 12 is mixed with crude oil introduced via line 14 into a mixing conduit 16.

A thermodynamic correlation for the minimum miscibility pressure of carbon dioxide flooding is introduced in which the minimum miscibility pressure is estimated as the cricondenbar of a pseudo-binary system at reservoir temperature.
Very good agreement of ± 3% is obtained between the minimum miscibility pressures and cricondenbars when CO impurities of 5% methane, 10% methane and 5% nitrogen are introduced.
When tested against 157 minimum miscibility pressure values for systems containing crude oil, the ratio of the predicted MMP to the actual MMP is 1.09, with a standard deviation of 19%.

The easiest way to solve this is to calculate the free energy of the two phases (solid and liquid) as a function of Pd composition for a variety of different temperatures, find the common tangent to the free energy curves, and plot the compositions by hand.
Miscibility gap and melting temps look okay, but it's not physical that there should be a crossing of the liquidus/solidus regions and the miscibility gap.

Way back in 1st edition Dungeons and Dragons, there was a concept called Potion Miscibility, which addressed what happened when you drank a second (or more) magic potion while the effect of a first was still active.
In Design and Development's Why We Aren't Funny, the authors mentioned potion miscibility as part of their discussion of previous editions' humor.
However, the Potion Miscibility rules from the older editions were still great fun, and no doubt contributed to some memorable events in characters' lives (or the end thereof).
