The chairman of the pageant’s organizing committee and the International Youth Festival (IYF), Gov. Leonida “Baby” Bayani-Ortiz delivered her welcome remarks by emphasizing on the value of the internal beauty of a person and how honored she was to be part of the annual global parade of young campus peace ambassadors.
Miss Philippines Rachel Kabigting and Miss Mongolia Unurtuul Myagmar chose to do the traditional dance of their countries.
Miss Kenya Evelyn Kendi belted out a song number; Miss Korea Sun Woo Kim managed to dance while singing a traditional hymn; as well as Miss Chinese Taipei Yao-Hsuan Huang who played the clarinet and sang afterwards.

About 200 17 to 25-year-olds applied to become Miss Chinese Vancouver this year, a number that was eventually pared down to 10 finalists.
The 23-year-old signed a contract with a Hong Kong TV station not long after winning Miss Chinese International, and has since gone on to perform in variety shows as well as 200 episodes of a television drama.

Miss Hong Kong Tiffany Lam was named the runner-up while Diana Wu of Toronto placed third.
