Missingno.’s cry is the same as a Nidoran♂’s, only a bit shorter, and the Stat screen, it has Rhydon’s cry.
Missingno.’s substitute is purple and ’M’s is blue.

While the Missingnos in Red and Blue follow some sort of logic, and mostly obey the rules, the ones in Yellow appear to be made from random data, which makes little sense to me, or the GB.
Missingnos are very weak, so not very useful for fighting.
Nintendo probably did take the Missingno cheat out to stop people cheating, but they could have done that whatever the original reason was for its existance.

 MissingNo Mystery Solved?
So if Missingno is the only pokemon on your party, you can change its stats, abilities, TM list, etc. by looking at a pokedex entry, or by saving, reseting, and waiting for the approproate pokemon to appear on the title screen.
To get the 3 special missingnos (ghost and fossil) you have to have w (for Kabutops fossil), x (for Aerodactyl fossil), or y (for ghost) (they're lowercase) in the 3rd, 5th, or 7th spot in your name.
When Ghost or Fossil MissingNo (MissingNo 182-184) appears, it pulls its stats from the last Pokemon to go through the game's memory - either from viewing your Pokedex, looking at a Pokemon's stats, or even the Pokemon that is on the title screen when you press start.

It was only then that I suddenly realized what had almost definitely been the matter with my Pidgeot on the other game: it had gained a level while I was looking for a Ditto, and I had forgotten to factor in the stat rise.
The game uses numbers as character codes, and because the game has no idea whether the numbers it's given are character codes or numbers and levels of wild Pokémon, it will just pick up the numbers and go haywire when it discovers that there is no such Pokémon as Pokémon number 156 or whatever.

MissingNo is a result of some sloppy programming code in the older Pokemon games that has since been fixed.
Part of this glitch is that you will have over 99 of the 6th item in your inventory (128 of it?) when you get into an encounter with MissingNo.
Hence the name "MissingNo" -- Missing No. = Missing Number.

Missingno.'s head looks like a big block of static and the other Missingno.
Aside from the item duplication bit, as I recall if you capture Missingno and have an empty space in your party, then feed it a rare candy, it will evolve into a Kangaskan with two Water Gun attacks and a Fly attack.
I don't think you're supposed to KEEP the missingno because it will screw your game up, but it's a cheat, that's all, that everyone knows about/should know about.

I get MissingNO (Missing Number) when I used to play (Before I lost my blue) and only some graphics are scrambled like the name and the MissingNO itself.
They start using parts of the MissingNO to create the Monsters, and when they are all finished creating the game they take the MissingNO out.
