Twenty-Five Years Plus One of Collecting Mission Records: Observations From the Experience of the Billy Graham Center ...   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-15)
Mission agencies are more interested in carrying out the Great Commission than in documenting how they do it, and so, archival liaison gets a very, very low priority, often so low that it has to look up to see down, as the saying goes.
The guides to each mission's archives, therefore, must be created in ways that can, with a minimum of reformatting, include new batches of files as well as accurately reflecting the changing realities and underlying continuities of the mission's records.
There are congresses and conferences on mission themes, the private papers of individuals (missionaries, mission executives, members of board of directors, church leaders), files of mission service agencies, the records of churches that support individual missionaries and/or a mission agency.

NARA - Electronic Records Archives - Mission Needs Statement
To continue to fulfill its mission, NARA needs to respond effectively to the challenge posed by the diversity, complexity, and enormous volume of electronic records being created today and the rapidly changing nature of the systems that are used to create them.
To meet its mission, NARA must provide guidance to allow agencies to deal with the wide variety of complex record formats that they create, and that guidance must be flexible enough to easily adapt to future formats.
Given the quantity of records that are candidates for transfer and the lack of capability to accommodate them, NARA must create a scalable system to preserve and store electronic records.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Dolores Mission
The date intended for the celebration was 4 Oct., the feast of St Francis of Asissi, but owing to the absence of the military commander of the neighboring presidio, which had been established on 17 Sept., the feast of the stigmata of St. Francis, the formal founding was delayed.
In all official documents, reports, and in the records, the mission bears no other name than San Francisco de Asis; but after 1824, when the Mission San Francisco Solano was established at Sonóma, to avoid confusion, it was popularly called Dolores, that is to say, the mission on the Dolores.
From 1785 to the end of 1832, for which period we have the reports, the mission raised 120,000 bushels of wheat, 70,226 bushels of barley, 18,260 bushels of corn, 14,386 bushels of beans, 7296 bushels of peas, and 905 bushels of lentils and garvanzos or horse beans.
