Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion, who has outlasted six premiers and six prime ministers, was feted last night at a gala dinner celebrating her 25 years in office.
Mississauga now has a population of more than 600,000 and is considered one of the country's key business centres, with dozens of head offices.
During her reign, Mississauga has grown to include a huge civic centre, arts centre, central library, lakefront park and a 5,400-seat hockey arena to house the Junior A Mississauga Ice Dogs.
