The Mississippi Teacher Corps is a two-year program that recruits recent college graduates to teach in critical-shortage areas in the Mississippi Delta, in exchange for a full scholarship for a masters' degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Mississippi.
Randy Taylor, Mississippi Teacher Corps Class of 2003, is a native of the Mississippi Delta.
While at the University of Mississippi, and as a member of the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, Randy participated in many activities, including Habitat For Humanity and the University of Mississippi Gospel Choir.

It was known as the “Teacher’s Regiment.” The 33rd infantry was attached to the Dept. of the Gulf, to June 1864; District of LaFourche, Dept. of the Gulf, to February 1865; 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 16th Army Corps, Military Division West Mississippi, to June1865; and Dept. of Mississippi, to November 1865.
It was attached to Provisional Cavalry Brigade, Casey's Division, Military District of Washington, to February, 1863; Provisional Cavalry Brigade, Casey's Division, 22nd Army Corps, Dept. of Washington, to March, 1863; 1st Brigade, Stahel's Cavalry Division, 22nd Army Corps, to June, 1863; 2nd Brigade, 3rd Division, Cavalry Corps.
The 42nd was attached to the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Division, 4th Army Corps to June, 1865; 2nd Brigade, 2nd Division, 4th Army Corps, to August, 1865; and Dept. of Texas, to December, 1865.

In 1838 he accepted a position with the U.S. Army Corps of Topographical Engineers, and in 1838–39 he led a government surveying expedition to map the region between the upper Mississippi and Missouri rivers, assisted by John C. Frémont.
Nicollet showed promise in mathematics and astronomy early; he became a teacher of mathematics at the age of 19.
He lived first in New Orleans, La., and then settled in St. Louis, Mo. With support from the wealthy Chouteau family of St. Louis, Nicollet in 1836–37 led an expedition that surveyed the sources of the Mississippi River.

Woodrow Wilson Clark, born January 3, 1917, Neshoba County, Mississippi, after a short period of medical treatment, served as a teacher in the radio school at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, and as 2nd lieutenant in the Signal Corps in Iceland and England.
I was just a Staff Sergeant when the war broke out but I ended in about a year and half later with a disability discharge and entered Mississippi College on a special federal program to finish up my college education.

I am a 2004 graduate of Harvard Law School and currently a doctoral candidate at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where I am writing a dissertation on the important educative function legal opinions perform in a democracy.
In the fall of 2004, I returned to Harvard yet again—I'm now the assistant director for academic affairs at the Law School—and am very excited about the prospect of serving as a Leverett House non-resident tutor.
